Focusing on saving lives!
What is a HEARTSafe Community?
HEARTSafe is a public health initiative designed to promote survival from sudden out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
A HEARTSafe Community offers CPR training, AED access, heart-healthy programs, and more. Citizen CPR has designated Holland a HEARTSafe Community.
Why Training?
Having a friend of family member with a medical emergency can be a scary situation.
Learning CPR is one of the best ways to help them during a cardiac arrest.
But you don’t need to know someone to make a huge difference in their life! Complete strangers can work together through CPR to help a cardiac arrest victim.
How PulsePoint Helps Save Lives
Fifty-seven percent of U.S. adults say they’ve had CPR training, and most would be willing to use CPR or an AED to help save a stranger’s life. Yet only 11% say they’ve used CPR in an actual emergency.
When a life-threatening call comes in, emergency responders are ready. But what if someone was already at the scene, applying lifesaving CPR and defibrillation until they arrive?
With PulsePoint, the dispatch center immediately alerts CPR-trained individuals about nearby cardiac arrest events through the free PulsePoint Respond mobile app and lets them know the location of the closest AEDs.
Purpose
The single most important objective of HEARTSafe Holland is to save the lives of those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest whose life status may depend on early intervention CPR and AED use. To that end, HEARTSafe Holland’s mission and vision statements are as follows:
